Product Description: Since 1906. Candy cane Ideas. Table centerpiece. Crushed dessert topping. The Candy Cane Tradition. The candy cane can be traced back to Germany in 1670. Legend has it that the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral handed out sugar sticks bent into the shape of a Shepherd's staff to keep his young singers quiet during long services. While other elements of the season have evolved over the years, the simple candy cane remains a traditional ornament and treat reminding us of the Shepherd's humble spirit on that first Christmas night.
